Your cat can become pregnant as early as 4 months old!  Now is the perfect time to spay, before she goes into heat in January.  There are too many cats and not enough homes for all of them.  We still have a surplus of kittens and cats from this season waiting for a home.

Download an easy-to-fill-out-application or pick one up at Butte Humane Society.  Please write “Holiday Special” on your application.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CAT SPAYED/NEUTERED BEFORE DECEMBER 31^st.  You will be contacted by one of our volunteers within one week of receiving your application.

First Annual Doggie Dash.

Mangrove Veterinary Hospital presents the first annual Doggie Dash on Sunday October 17th, 2010

The Doggie Dash is a timed 5K run/walk event for people and their canine companions. Start time is 8am at Bidwell Park/One Mile. All proceeds will benefit the Chico Police Department Canine Unit.

Early registration is $25. Late registration is $30. You can also register race day at 7am for $35. Early registration guarantees a Doggie Dash 2010 T-shirt. Late and race day registration will be first come, first serve for T-shirts. There will be prizes for the 3 fastest female and 3 fastest male DOGS.

Hang out after the race to see the multiple local vendors. Have your dog weighed and body condition scored at the Hill’s booth. Learn about obesity and weight loss in your canine companion. You can also pick up coupons for microchipping and Science Diet dog food. Come see the plans for Mangrove Veterinary Hospital’s new building coming in 2011!

2nd Annual Dog Parade Contest & Chili Cook-Off

Saturday September 11^th 2010  11am to 4pm

Chico Elks Lodge, 1705 Manzanita Avenue, Chico

Do you make the best Chile in town?  Do you have the cutest dog in the world?

Volunteers from Paws of Chico Spay & Neuter Program are staging the Dog Parade Contest for the Chico Elks Lodge 2^nd Annual Event.  Do you and your dog look alike? Does your dog have a special talent? Enter your dog in one or two of many fun categories! To register online visit chicoelks.com/Events, or stop by the Elks and Paws booth at Saturday Morning Farmers Market in downtown Chico. Dogs must be registered before 12pm the day of the event. The Parade starts promptly at 12:30pm.

Paws of Chico Spay & Neuter Program needs your support to reduce the number of unwanted litters of cats and dogs Chico!

Animals do not have a voice! As a community, we are responsible for addressing our overpopulation of cats and dogs.  Since September of 2005, Paws of Chico has helped pet owners spay and neuter over 2,200 cats and dogs. We have prevented 2,933 unwanted kittens and 1,728 unwanted puppies. Our goal is to continue increasing the number of owners and animals whom we are able to help each year.

We are the only Chico group that provides a voucher program, veterinarian referral, and helps with transportation. The most effective way to stop the suffering of unwanted animals is through spay and neuter. 

The Annie B’s Community Drive sponsored by the North Valley Community Foundation is an opportunity to help the animals. Donations can be made from August 1 - September 30.

*Update* National Spay Day

The Spay Day 2010 celebration was a tremendous success! The event included a variety of free drawings, a raffle for a cat & dog bed full of fun items for pet and owner, cake and a sidewalk sale. Pet owners struggling to pay bills had an opportunity to apply for financial assistance to have their pet spayed or neutered. Paws of Chico volunteers processed applications at the event. A total of 66 vouchers were processed (27 dogs & 39 cats) to help with the cost of spay & neuter. This is a great start at reducing the number of unwanted litters in 2010.

National Spay Day 2010!

When: Sunday, February 21
Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Where: PawPrints Thrift Boutique, 1346 Longfellow Ave.
(next to Chico Beauty School)

Drawing at noon for dog or cat bed overflowing with an array of fun items for you and your pet. $150 value! Tickets can be purchased now at the Boutique.

Applications will be accepted at the event for pet owners in need of financial assistance with spay/neuter.

From 11 am to 1 pm we will be offering a special on spay & neuter assistance. Pet owners will be given a voucher for the following prices:
